Summary
For the heat map, I thought it would be interesting to see how Life Expectancy looks like as a function of Murder Rate and Illiteracy, two factors that most would want minimized where they live. I like the fact that "missing" data actually encodes information -- it shows that there is a generally positive correlation between the existence of these two factors.
For the scatterplot matrix I looked at more general population statistics: 'Population', 'Income', 'Illiteracy', and 'Life Expectancy'.
For parallel coordinates I simply put all the numeric vectors together. I was surprised at how useful this chart is for getting a sense of what's in the data.
